Sri Guru Granth Sahib is revered by people of all religions - Kejriwal

Said, to serve the destitute and the poor, I left my job and worked with Mother Teresa

Dhariwal (Gurdaspur), December 24, AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal, who is on a two-day visit to Punjab, attended various programs in Gurdaspur, on Friday. Addressing a gathering organized by the Christian brotherhood in Dhariwal, Kejriwal said, "All religions teach us to live together. Living together and strong brotherhood is the beauty of Punjab.”

Addressing the public meeting, Kejriwal said that the life of Jesus Christ teaches us to serve the poor and destitute people selflessly. Jesus Christ spent his whole life in the service of the poor. There was only a sense of service and compassion in his heart towards the people. Even when nails were being hammered into his body, he was praying to God to forgive those who hammered the nails. Kejriwal said, “I am deeply influenced by the life of Jesus Christ. Leaving my job as an engineer in Tata Steel, I went to Kolkata to work with Mother Teresa, the messiah of the poor. With her I served the poor and destitute people of Kolkata for a long time.”

Kejriwal said that the basic principle of any religion is 'service and harmony'. The Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi is working according to the basic policies (policy of service) of all religions. Following the path shown by Jesus Christ, we (Delhi government) improved the condition of government schools to serve the poor because only the children of the poor study in government schools. The poor go to government hospitals for treatment. That's why we improved the government hospitals and provided free all types of treatment, tests and operation to the people of Delhi under the 'Suraksha Chakra'.

Speaking on the incidents of sacrilege, Kejriwal said that Sri Guru Granth Sahib is revered by people of all religions. People of all religions visit Gurdwara Sahib and bow their heads before Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and get His blessings. Incidents of sacrilege have hurt all Punjabis living in the country and abroad. God and the people of Punjab will never forgive the people responsible for the sacrilege and hurting the sentiments or lives of people.
