In Conversation With Dr Mayaa SH On Her Upcoming Book "Siddha" - A Journey Into Oneness...
Pune, India - Acclaimed authoress and feminist philosopher Dr Mayaa SH announces her most personal and profound book yet - "Siddha..."
Dr. Mayaa SH stands as a monumental force in contemporary Indian literature, social activism, and gender advocacy, seamlessly bridging high-minded socio-legal theory with the gritty realities of grassroots transformation. Her journey is defined by an uncompromising commitment to human dignity, structural justice, and the holistic emancipation of marginalized groups, particularly women. Recognized widely in literary and social circles—often affectionately dubbed the "Lady Karl Marx" for her sharp critiques of systemic inequality and the "MS Dhoni of the Writing Industry" for her swift, multi-genre literary impact—Dr. Mayaa SH has carved out a unique space as an intellectual and a street-level change-maker.
At the core of her journey is the pioneering paradigm of Developmental Feminism. Unlike conventional frameworks that isolate legal rights or political representation, Developmental Feminism directly links women's economic independence, the recognition of domestic labor, and mental health equity to broader national progress. Dr. Mayaa SH recognized early in her career that systemic apathy and astronomical legal or psychological costs often leave vulnerable individuals trapped in cycles of domestic abuse and social abandonment. To dismantle these invisible walls, she launched her revolutionary ₹1 Initiative. Under this framework, she offers comprehensive legal guidance, crisis intervention, emotional counseling, and personal mentoring for a token fee of just one rupee. The philosophy behind the ₹1 Initiative is rooted in deep psychological insight: traditional charity can strip an individual of agency, whereas a nominal transaction preserves self-respect, transforming the survivor from a helpless recipient into an empowered participant. Through this initiative, thousands of women across urban and rural landscapes have found an unwavering ally who refuses to let financial constraints dictate human worth. Her journey is a testament to the belief that true social evolution cannot happen in boardrooms or abstract essays alone; it requires direct, compassionate intervention at the grassroots, where every human voice matters and systemic barriers are dismantled one life at a time.
Mental health advocacy under the leadership of Dr. Mayaa SH transcends conventional clinical paradigms, addressing psychological distress through a socio-environmental and deeply human lens. She firmly asserts that mental breakdowns do not occur in a vacuum; rather, they are deeply intertwined with chronic stress, isolation, financial dependency, emotional abandonment, and systemic oppression. By examining the root causes of psychological suffering, she champions an inclusive model of healing that destigmatizes mental illness and fosters safe, non-judgmental spaces for the vulnerable. Her advocacy emphasizes the power of active listening, non-violent communication, and empathy, breaking down the social taboos that force individuals to suffer in silence. Central to her therapeutic philosophy is the transformative concept of "Version 2.0" and the spiritual-psychological idea of rebirth (Punarjanm) within a single lifetime. Dr. Mayaa SH teaches trauma survivors and those grappling with severe depression that their darkest crises do not define them; instead, pain can serve as a catalyst for profound personal evolution. Her framework relies on five fundamental pillars: unshakable self-belief (Atma Vishwas), determined action (Dridh Sankalp), detachment from external validation, forgiveness of the past self, and the courage to begin again. By helping people decouple their self-worth from toxic relationships, societal expectations, and past failures, she instills a resilient mindset capable of weathering profound adversity. Her advocacy reframes emotional wounds not as permanent scars to be concealed, but as sacred lessons that forge a wiser, more authentic, and compassionate self. Through workshops, public speaking, counseling sessions, and writings, Dr. Mayaa SH continues to change the national narrative around psychological well-being, proving that emotional health is a fundamental human right rather than a luxury.
Dr Mayaa SH, a prominent women's rights activist, author, and feminist philosopher, has extensively addressed domestic violence in her work, emphasizing its profound impact and the societal changes required to combat it. Her insights are deeply rooted in her experiences as a campaigner and a fierce women's rights activist, focusing on empowering women and challenging societal attitudes that blame victims. Beyond her writings, Dr Mayaa SH urges public discourse on gender-based violence, encouraging the use of social media hashtags like #OrangeTheWorld and #GenerationEquality to raise awareness. She also calls for challenging inappropriate behavior, understanding relevant data, and advocating for government investment in data collection on gender-based violence. Employers, she suggests, have a role in creating supportive workplace cultures that encourage survivors to seek mental health support.
The Firebrand Feminist and Internationally acclaimed authoress gets candid on her conversation on her upcoming book "Siddha". In her exclusive conversation for Dr Mayaa SH connects the dots on Life and The Concept Of Oneness. Dr Mayaa SH's upcoming book "Siddha." highlights the spiritual journey into oneness where masculine and feminine, Shiva and Shakti, are no longer two. The book beautifully weaves the serene wisdom of Gautam Buddha - the calm blue sky of the mind, with the profound symbolism of Ardhanarishvara - the vibrant pink love of the heart, teaching that true enlightenment is not found outside but in merging the duality within. Through simple practices like Sakshi Bhav, Samvedana and Samarpan, Siddha guides every seeker to realize that you are not incomplete and you are not alone - you are whole, awakened and free. "You are Siddha.."
"Siddha" is a spiritual journey into oneness where masculine and feminine, Shiva and Shakti, are no longer two. The book beautifully weaves the serene wisdom of Gautam Buddha with the profound symbolism of Ardhanarishvara. It teaches that true enlightenment is not found outside, but in merging the duality within us.
Speaking about the theme, Dr Mayaa SH says, "Siddha is not just a book, it is my own life's sadhana build over bringing about transformative changes into enabling people to help rediscover their purpose in life and thereon build on their positives. For years, I saw women trying to become more masculine to be successful, and men hiding their feminine to be strong. Siddha was born when I stopped choosing one over the other. You don't have to kill your emotions to be wise, and you don't have to kill your wisdom to be loving."
The book introduces a powerful metaphor - "When the calm blue sky of the mind meets the vibrant pink love of the heart, the third eye awakens..." Through simple practices like Sakshi Bhav, Samvedana and Samarpan, Siddha guides readers to their own center.

Theme Of This Book:
For Dr Mayaa SH, Siddha is not just a book, it is her own life's sadhana.
Dr Mayaa has always spoken about the wholeness of a human being. In a world that constantly divides us - as man and woman, logic and emotion, success and surrender - she felt this division deeply in her own journey as a woman, a scholar, a mother, and a seeker.
The concept of Ardhanarishvara came to her not as a mythological story, but as a living truth. She realized that within her, there is a Shiva who wants to be still, silent, a witness like Gautam Buddha's serene blue sky, and there is also a Shakti who wants to love, create, flow like a vibrant pink river of compassion.
For years she saw women trying to become more masculine to be successful, and men hiding their feminine to be strong. This painful duality is the root of all unrest, she believes.
Siddha was born when she stopped choosing one over the other. The theme is close to her heart because it is her own awakening - that you don't have to kill your emotions to be wise, and you don't have to kill your wisdom to be loving. True enlightenment is when Shiva and Shakti embrace inside you.
Through Siddha, Dr Mayaa SH wants to tell every individual - "You are not incomplete, and you are not alone. You are Whole. You are Siddha..."
Q1: First of all, congratulations! What does the title "Siddha" signify?
Dr Mayaa: Thank you. Siddha means an awakened, perfected being. The three dots signify the journey is never-ending. It is not a full stop, it is a continuation. Enlightenment is not a destination you reach, it is a space you keep expanding into.
Q2: Your book merges two very different icons - Gautam Buddha and Ardhanarishvara. How did you connect them?
Dr Mayaa: To me, they are not different. Buddha represents the Blue Sky - Shunya, stillness, awareness, the Shiva consciousness. Ardhanarishvara represents the union. Buddha showed us how to calm the mind, Ardhanarishvara shows us why - so that mind (Shiva) can finally meet the heart (Shakti). One is the path, the other is the culmination.
Q3: You talk about "Blue Sky of Mind and Pink Love of Heart." Can you explain this beautiful metaphor?
Dr Mayaa: Blue is the color of Shiva, of vastness, of Buddha's calm detachment. Pink is the color of love, warmth, Shakti, compassion. When we meditate, our mind becomes a clear blue sky. When we love, our heart becomes pink. Most people live in only one. Siddha is the moment when that blue sky holds that pink love - the third eye opens.
Q4: In today's world of gender debates and identity crises, how relevant is the Ardhanarishvara concept?
Dr Mayaa: Extremely relevant. The world is fighting outside about masculine vs feminine. My book says the fight is not outside, it is inside. Every man has a feminine and every woman has a masculine. Until you honour both inside, you will always fight outside. Ardhanarishvara is not about gender, it is about balance.
Q5: Is this book more for women or for men?
Dr Mayaa: This book is for the seeker irrespective of any gender. But yes, if you have ever felt that you are too emotional to be strong, or too strong to be loved - this book is for you. Society told women to suppress Shakti and men to suppress Shiva's sensitivity. Siddha tells you, you don't need to suppress anything. You need to merge.
Q6: You say "You are not just a man, not just a woman." Some may find it controversial. What is your response?
Dr Mayaa: It is not controversial, it is liberating. Body has a gender, soul does not. Consciousness is beyond duality. I am not denying your manhood or womanhood, I am expanding it. You are a man and a woman, and beyond both - you are consciousness.
Q7: What is the central practice or message you give in Siddha to achieve this oneness?
Dr Mayaa: I give three simple practices: Sakshi Bhav - Be a witness like Buddha, Samvedana - Feel deeply like Shakti, and Samarpan - Surrender where both meet. No complex rituals. Just ten minutes of meditation, self-reflection and conscious loving every day.
Q8: You have written extensively on women empowerment. Is Siddha a continuation of that?
Dr Mayaa: My earlier books have been about empowering an individual in the outer world. Siddha is about empowering a woman - and a man - in their inner world. Outer empowerment fails if inner balance is missing. So yes, this is the spiritual root of my feminism.
Q9: Why did you choose spirituality over self-help language for this topic?
Dr Mayaa: Because self-help tries to fix you. Spirituality reminds you that you were never broken. You are not becoming Siddha, you are remembering you already are Siddha. Self-help says improve, Siddha says merge and realize.
Q10: What was the most challenging part of writing Siddha?
Dr Mayaa: To keep it simple. Oneness is the simplest truth but the hardest to express in words. How do you write silence? How do you write love? I had to unlearn my academic language and write like a soul talking to another soul.
Q11: Can you share a personal anecdote where you experienced this Shiva-Shakti union yourself?
Dr Mayaa: One evening after a long day of lectures and responsibilities, I was exhausted. I sat to meditate. My mind wanted silence and my heart was weeping with compassion for a story I had heard of people's experiences and the zeal to find a purpose in life. For a moment, both existed together - the silence and the tears. And I felt complete. No conflict. That was my Siddha moment. I smiled and I knew - this is the book.
Q12: Who is an ideal Siddha according to you in today's world?
Dr Mayaa: An ideal "Siddha" is someone who can be fiercely successful in a boardroom and tenderly cry while feeding a stray dog. Someone who uses logic without losing love, and loves without losing awareness. Someone whole.
Q13: How is Siddha different from your other books of inspiration or other spiritual books?
Dr Mayaa: Many spiritual books tell you to transcend duality. Siddha tells you to embrace and marry the duality within. We don't have to go to the Himalayas to find Shiva. Shiva is our awareness, Shakti is our love. Your home, your relationship, your work is your Himalaya.
Q14: What do you want readers to take away after reading the last page of Siddha?
Dr Mayaa: I want them to close the book, look in the mirror and say - I am enough. I am both. I am whole. I don't need another half to complete me, I need to meet my own other half within. That is peace.
Q15: What is next after Siddha? Is there a series planned?
Dr Mayaa: Yes, Siddha is the Beginning. The next will be on how to live this oneness in relationships - how a Siddha loves, parents, and leads. Because awakening is not just in meditation, it is in everyday living.
Q16: One message for all your readers who are waiting for Siddha...?
Dr Mayaa: Don't search for your soulmate outside. Meet the soulmate inside you. When Shiva kisses Shakti within you, the universe kisses you back. You are not a seeker, you are the sought. You are Siddha.
"In a world that tells you to choose - Be Strong or be Soft, Be Successful or be Loving - Siddha Whispers..."
You don't have to choose. You have to Merge ...
When Shiva and Shakti embrace inside you, you become whole.
The book is slated for release soon and is for every seeker who longs for balance, peace and completeness.
